Week 64: Craziest week ever/Welcome to GYŐR

Probably this week was the craziest week in my mission but super good as well! I learned a lot!

Right now I am in GYŐR! This is a city in the west part of Hungary that is really close to the Slovakian border. They have a ward here but not a lot of members have been coming to church lately so we are going to be working on that a lot and of course finding those that are prepared. My new companion's name is Elder Surdu and he is from Calgary, Canada. He was in a band and he plays the guitar super well! We plan on doing some guitar piano arrangements in the future.

One of the biggest stories this week was that I had the wonderful opportunity to go to the airport and welcome the new missionaries because Elder Hughes got appendicitis! Me and Elder Gentry went together in his car and we drove the 2 new elders back to the mission home. Elder Hughes and Elder Bloomer had to stay in the hospital (this all happened on the 31st). We drove through INTENSE Budapest traffic and then we made it to the mission home in safety. We had dinner and then at around 9 PM we went up to Buda castle for the new missionaries. We read the dedicatory prayer and we escorted the missionaries to the hotel. Elder Hughes was in a hospital next to the Basilica in Pest so we got some clothes, food, etc. and we drove to the hospital. It turns out next to the private hospital there were a lot of crazy Halloween parties. Long story short, we dropped off Elder Hughes's stuff, picked up Elder Bloomer, drove back and slept in the AP's apartment for the night. We got to bed at around 1:30 #memories.

Another story was that we got to go to my old city Tatabánya to sing in a choir. Missionaries from Budapest and Győr both went down to sing in this community choir event. It was really cool because we put together the whole thing in less than 24 hours!

We have an investigator named Eszter, who is our mission leader's wife, and she went to her first Sunday school this week! She really liked it and we will be meeting with her this week!

Thank you for your support and prayers! Have a great week!

Love,

Elder Ballard
