This week we got to go on splits with the elders in
Kaposvár. Kaposvár is a city south west of Dunaújváros and it is where Elder
Lister served when he first arrived in country. We went on splits with Elder
Castellano and my good old companion Elder Surdu! Kaposvár has a sugar factory
and the downtown part of the city is really pretty. While walking through the
city, all that kept coming into mind was Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka so
now I call Kaposvár "the land of pure imagination." It just seems
like a jolly, sugar filled city to me, anyways, let me tell you about the
highlights of the week...
While traveling to Kaposvár we had to change trains at a
city near the Balaton, the largest lake in Europe. It turned out that the train
that would take us to Kaposvár did not come in a long time so, we took some
pictures of the Balaton. Prettiest, lake I have ever seen!
We had zone conference and a missionary leadership meeting
with Elder Johnson, the area president, and his wife Sister Johnson. It was
incredible feeling the spirit they brought and learning from them how to better
help our investigators. One thing that Elder Johnson said that I thought was
really cool was "In order to understand teaching, we need
to understand learning." In order for us to learn the gospel, we must
live according to it. We were all challenged to do all that we can to
continually live according to the gospel and to continuously be exactly
obedient.
While on splits in Kaposvár, we tracted into an
older woman whose husband passed away from cancer 9 years ago. She is still
struggling with his death. She thought that with time, her heart would heal but
the healing, she said, has not come. Me and Elder Castellano knew what she
needed but she told us that she did not believe that we could help with it. We
gave her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and promised that if she read it and pray
about it, she will find that healing. She agreed to do that. I told Elder
Castellano to follow up with her a couple weeks later.
I had a good discussion with
Elder Lister about the Lord's timing and His grace. It is incredible that by
the grace of God, we can be clean from our sins, and that this work is
possible. I know that faith is power and that as a part of faith, we need to
believe and trust in the Lord's timing for all His children. I love you all and
